On Sunday February 24/March 9, 2014, the Sunday of Orthodoxy, His Eminence Metropolitan Demetrius of America presided over the Divine Liturgy in the Cathedral of St. Markella, Astoria, NY, during which he ordained Fr. Sergius (Gordon) of Holy Ascension Monastery, Bearsville, NY to the Diaconate.

We mustn’t have absolute trust in human beings for our salvation, no matter what dignity they have. Human beings are changeable. Today they are saints, tomorrow—deniers. Today—sinners, tomorrow—righteous.
