The Clergy and people of the Cathedral of St Markella in New York City celebrated the Great Feast of the Baptism of Jesus Christ in the Jordan River (Theophania) - 2014. As has become tradition the celebration culminated at Battery Park in New York Harbor with young men swimming in the Hudson River to retrieve the Cross. This year the Cross was tossed into the harbor by His Grace Bishop Demetrius of Boston.
Iftar, refers to the evening meal when Muslims break their fast during the Islamic month of Ramadan. Iftar is one of the religious observances of Ramadan and is often done as a community, with people gathering to break their fast together. Iftar is done right after sunset.
